Weekend

107 degrees in B-more today. 90 degree temps predicted all week. Here's a litte something sparkly to keep our minds off this weather; this and this should help, too. Have a good one, all. xo

Good times

Just saying hello and reporting that summer, in all it's heat and glory, is going well. Food, friends, travel, adventures, domesticity, and even a little dash of work have made for a busy couple of months. I'm still here and will update now and again. So thanks again for swinging by. I hope your summer is going well!

I ate too much.

Happy Monday, everyone. How was your 4th of July? I don't think I've eaten so much since Christmas, but for that reason and others it really felt like a holiday this year. I'm going to drink a lot of water and eat some salad with lettuce and fresh veg this week, as opposed to this kind of salad (which I can highly recommend from recent experience).

What did you eat/drink/blow up?

Have a wonderful long weekend!

What are you up to this lovely long weekend, my friends? My in-laws fly in from Vancouver tonight and we've planned the weekend all around food, museums, and pool time. My father-in-law turns 65 on the 4th, so we're planning an all-American "picnic style" lunch (per his request). Naturally, the only place I consulted for delicious summer food was here

Take care, eat well, and enjoy yourselves. xo

Mail it

These rad cards from Toronto have raw, hand drawn patterns and type, but look techy and modern with geometric patterns and and simply put statements. There's no such thing as too much stationary.

Have a good weekend.

Do something good for someone this weekend, and it will come back to you. TGIF.

Love

The call of this day: the call to love. There is always someone, something, some place in our lives who need our love and our support, our time and our company, our own life and blood- although sometimes it feels we can somehow live and exist in our isolated hideaways that we trick ourselves into believing as own our lives. But by acknowledging and practicing a very real, very present love, I am reminded just how deep and strong these bonds extend between us; the unending, boundless amount of love that exists all around us, freely and openly, that holds us and sustains us, if we will just reach for it and give ourselves to this love, reach for it and extend this love to others.

Chair love

I'm loving this Eames inspired collection of handmade furniture from New Zealand. I'd love to come home after work, plop down in this chair and drink a martini.

Reblogger

Anytime I see a good breakfast photo I think of BKFST. I knew the moment Ryan wiped the butter off the lens our camera this shot would be a winner and needed to be submitted. See it here. And check out some of the links to where it's been reblogged. The way images spread on the web is a wonder.

Also, check out the restaurant this meal was from. (Descendants of the Herbfarm, hello! - how could we not have gone?)

Wedding treats

We had such a great weekend in Seattle and Orcas Island, I only wish it could have lasted about 18 more days...

The weather was typical: cool, partly cloudy with sunny patches, misty, breezy, fresh and clean. Although it's summer and I know Seattleites are desperate for sun and warmer temperatures, the break from the heat in B-more was soothing, refreshing and just what I needed.

I felt so lucky to have been able to see my parents and some great friends, to not waste a moment/potential meal by enjoying some of my very favorite Seattle restaurants, and to be part of C & V's special day on Orcas Island (what an awesome wedding it was!). We had so much fun laughing with friends and being reminded of the incredible beauty and life that exists in the Northwest. I can't help but miss living there, but am also so thankful for the adventure and change that living across the country has brought. As it's said, part of me never really knew what I was missing until I left.

For now, it's back to work and back to life at home in Baltimore. Guess I'll just have to bring everyone from Seattle to me! Who's game?

That was fun.

That was fun. Photos, restaurant highlights and favorite moments soon to come. xo

Buh bye

I'm on vacation for the rest of the week, so take good care now and I'll be seing you real soon. xo

p.s. yeah that's right, that'll be me and Ryan headed up Mt. Constitution on Orcas this Saturday. Just wait.

Spaghetti al limone

Spaghetti al limone (with whole wheat pasta and tons of shredded fresh arugala). Toss it all together, serve with a glass of pinot noir, enjoy.

Easy, fast, bright and tasty: perfect for a summer night.

FYI

In case you didn't know, Baltimore is the greatest city in America. Or so the benches say. And this bag, which I couldn't resist buying.
